This past summer I was given the opportunity to host an arts & crafts class for students with special needs. For the Fourth of July, I decided to do a project that would also be a teaching experience.
We made our very own Declaration of Independence with our own set of rights!
Materials:
- Copy Paper
- Coffe
- Paint Brush
- Black Marker
- Frame (Optional)
Directions:
Take your sheet of paper and crumple it into a ball.
Open your paper back up and allow the wrinkles to remain in their natural form.
Using the paintbrush, paint the coffee onto your piece of paper.
Once your paper has dried you may now use the black marker to write your own set of rights.
Frame for best results.
Skills Addressed:
Following step-by-step instructions
Fine motor skills
Identifying desires and boundaries
Handwriting
Increased art appreciation
Development of positive self-esteem through the success of completing the project.
